Friedrichshafen – If works of art made of fondant and cake are unparalleled – then My Cake is time. Around 50 exhibiting companies from all over Europe will serve at Messe Friedrichshafen from the 4th to the 5th. February 2023 the latest offers and trends around cake design and baking art. “The El Dorado for cake fans in the international border triangle offers numerous shopping opportunities and hands-on areas in the fifth edition,” says project manager Julia Graf. The mixture of workshops, shopping experience, live demos and competitions makes all the hearts of cake enthusiasts beat faster again. New this year is the enlarged do-it-yourself area (DIY), which combines top-class stars with a diverse range of courses.
From A for cookie cutter to Z for sugar flower: If you are looking for baking and decorative utensils, you will find what you are looking for in the extensive exhibition offer of the cake fair. Cake fans will not only find a wide range of promotions in the hands-on area without prior notice, but are also happy about the exchange with stars of the anniversary season of the SAT.1 show “Das große Backen”. “With the largest DIY area in My Cake history, prominent workshops and exciting competitions, we make the next edition of the international trade fair for cake design and creative baking an interactive experience,” explains Julia Graf. Inventiveness is in demand in the numerous workshops that require registration, where experienced cake designers convey the latest cake trends and reveal practical life hacks. Inspiration and learning are at the fore dekofee live stage in Foyer West. From interviews to the cake design of a ‘realistic T-bone steak’, there is something for everyone here.
Fans of cake contests should make a note of the cake competition of the Interest Group for Cake Design (IGT). The crown of the premier class will be awarded to the tastiest Frankfurt wreaths at the “Edible Cake” competition. Less royal, but all the more adventurous are the stories that the motif cakes of the My Cake Collaboration tell. Under the motto “Experience amusement parks”, the showpieces of renowned cake artists are dedicated to the theme worlds of Europa-Park.
Cake artworks among themselves: The IGT cake competition
To the fondant, get set, go! From ‘anniversary’ to ‘musical’ to ‘boho style’: Emerging design talents demonstrate their decorative skills in twelve categories at the big My Cake cake competition. More than 100 cake creations will attract the astonishing glances of numerous visitors in Hall A2. The works of art are made at home and delivered in the run-up to the fair. The cake contest is organized in cooperation with the community of cake design. The creative minds behind the winning cakes can look forward to high-quality non-cash prizes. Participate and learn at live demos and in the DIY area
If baking spontaneously itches in your fingers, you will find what you are looking for in the largest range of DIY offers to date on the My Cake. Christa Gehring and Raiko Kiesler from the SAT.1 show “Das große Backen” show what needs to be considered when creating detailed fondant figures. Fans of seductive cocoa flavors learn how to prepare the chocolate delicacies at Caterina Barretta’s chocolate workshop. The lecture program of the live stage also serves inspiration for the next baking projects. Raheem Haidar, winner of the anniversary season of “Das große Backen”, shows, among other things, what is important when making seductive Valentine’s Day cupcakes and cake professional Kevin Lühmann reveals how chocolate is properly tempered.
Workshops teach practical tips and tricks
There is something for everyone at the My Cake Workshops: In over 33 courses, you have to discover the world of modern cake art. The actions required to make classics such as muffins and macarons a feast for the eyes are just as important as the modeling of detailed flowers and figures. Cake professional Nicola Keysselitz demonstrates how sugar-sweet faces are brought to life with the right facial expressions. As a master of sensory deception, Sebastian Kronseder packs cakes as a realistic T-bone steak. The icing on the cake on the course experience is creating your own works of art. Cake Battle royal: Best Frankfurt wreath wanted
Juicy batter, fine buttercream and crispy almond brittle: The Frankfurter Kranz with its striking crown shape is a traditional pastry. If you want to put on this year’s baking crown of the My Cake competition “Edible Cake”, apply in the first round with a picture and the list of ingredients for your own cake creation. Among all applications, the jury selects ten final participants who will bake their highlight and play it on the dekofee live stage on the 4th and 5th. February will be tasted and evaluated. The victory is sweetened for the first place winners with attractive baking prices.
In the young bakery
Decoration and cake professionals have also started small once. Young baking friends can try their hand at the first treats in the hands-on area of My Cake. Workshops for children and teenagers make it playfully easy to handle dough and fondant. Melanie Rieger takes the offspring of baking into the world “Under the Sea” and shows how the sugary land of plenty comes to the muffin. Cake is there to share: Together for a good cause
Passion for cake connects: At the My Cake Collaboration “Help with Cake”, organized by Nicola Keysselitz from Key for Cakes, over 18 cake professionals create works of art for a good cause. Among other things, exhibits by Marina Dewald, Silvia Machini and Jan-Michael Dörich can be admired and auctioned. “Experience amusement parks” is the motto 2023 of the cake creations that bring adventure worlds such as the water paradise Rulantica or thrilling shows in Europa-Park to life. The motif cakes are dedicated to Germany’s largest amusement park and will be seen after the My Cake at a sweet special show at the IBO stand of Europa-Park.
The international fair for cake design and creative baking will take place from the 4th to the 5th. February 2023 and is open on Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day ticket costs 12.50 euros, reduced 10.50 euros.
