At the B.I.G., northern Germany’s largest trade fair for building, real estate, gardening and furnishing, from 1st to 5th February in Hanover, there will be a new topic area, which is primarily aimed at young students, trainees and interested parties.
Under the umbrella brand B.I.G. zukunft. bauen. is to counter the increasing shortage of skilled workers in the craft and construction industry and solutions for the future are to be developed together. The focus is on the holistic, cross-trade qualification, consisting of training, study, further education.
The focus of the special exhibition is the student competitionStudents|Design|Future, which is organized by Deutsche Messe AG together with the BAKA Bundesverband Altbauerneuerung and to which colleges and universities from all over Germany and neighboring European countries are invited.
Project work from the areas of space, buildings, districts must be submitted, which is based on sustainability aspects and deals with the topics of sufficiency, efficiency, consistency and resilience.
After registration and submitting a project outline, a preliminary examination will decide on the nomination for participation. At the construction fair, it will then be decided who will win the prize as part of the university day after a public presentation. A total of four cash prizes with a total value of 2100 euros as well as non-cash prizes will be awarded. Interdisciplinary teams from two or more people from all relevant fields can apply. The deadline for submissions is the 28th. October.
In addition to the competition, “B.I.G. zukunft. bauen” offers universities and vocational schools the opportunity to present themselves and their courses of study as well as current projects on campus. It is planned that all participants link their ideas and projects together in such a way that a large whole is created from individual approaches – without abandoning the respective identity and individuality. The goal in the “campus” should be to secure and accelerate climate protection and ecology through joint action. Networking, communication and cooperation are expressly desired.
Profession + Education
The third area at “B.I.G. zukunft. bauen” is last but not least the special area Beruf + Bildung. Here, in turn, institutions, companies and educational institutions introduce themselves as well as their training and job offers. Young people have the opportunity to enter into dialogue directly with potential employers or to find out about training opportunities.
