Nuremberg – As part of the official HOGA opening, Lord Mayor Marcus König spoke a greeting in which he welcomed the industry in Nuremberg. Angela Inselkammer, President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bavaria, formulated current concerns and needs of Bavarian restaurateurs and hoteliers in her speech and thus appealed to politicians. At the same time, she stressed that it is important for the host industry to show the flag on the HOGA. In his festive address, the Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann emphasized the importance of gastronomy for business and society and thus solemnly opened the HOGA.
Wings Coin – Winner of the Gastro Innovation Award 2023
There were over 50 innovative entries for the Gastro Innovation Award 2023. The competition was held for the third time as part of HOGA. At the grand finale for the opening of the HOGA, the eight finalists presented their concepts and ideas. First place went to Project Wings with Wings Coin. The concept convinced both the jury and the HOGA audience and is thus the winner of the Gastro Innovation Award 2023. Together with software developers, Project Wings has developed a digital concept for unsubscribing room cleaning in the hotel industry. With one click via a QR code in the hotel rooms, hotel guests can conveniently cancel their room cleaning.
In second place is Northern Greens, which have developed liquid herbs with a long shelf life, for which no cooling is necessary. The Nuremberg-based company Vitas has finished third with its digital telephone assistant. The digital telephone assistant answers calls automatically and in natural language, so that the catering staff can concentrate on taking care of guests on site. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the assistant can correctly classify the information and arrange reservations automatically
The expert jury around Dagmar Wöhrl, former Parliamentary State Secretary and Nuremberg entrepreneur as well as actress Silke Popp (“Dahoam is Dahoam”), Thomas Förster, 1. Vice President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern and Frank-Ulrich John, editor-in-chief Host Bavaria, evaluated all submissions. The winners and other participants of the Gastro Innovation Award 2023 will present themselves at the HOGA in Hall 4.
