【DE】BOE 2023: Mood barometer climbed to best scores for performance show, stages & networking

The successful re-launch of BOE INTERNATIONAL offered plenty of space for personal encounters and multi-sensual experiences

From 11th to 12th In January 2023, BOE INTERNATIONAL opened the new event year as usual and confirmed its claim as the leading international trade fair for experience marketing. The compact exhibitor portfolio presented all aspects of live communication to see, touch and try out. In addition, the trade visitors experienced an extensive supporting program with high-content lectures, panels, interviews and performances.


Dortmund, 16.01.2023 – With the start of the new event year, BOE INTERNATIONAL moved on two days of the fair from the 11th to the 12th. January 2023 around 9,000 visitors to Messe Dortmund. In this way, providers from all segments of the event industry were able to present their know-how in live communication as well as MICE and business travel to a large audience again. In the supporting program with numerous professional and entertaining highlights, the VIP interview talks with ex-professional footballer and brand ambassador Rúrik Gíslason as well as Dr. Georg Kofler, entrepreneur and juror at the TV show “Cave of the Lions” inspired. Another highlight was the keynote speech by Isabel Grupp, entrepreneur, influencer and head of state of the Young Entrepreneurs Baden-Württemberg. In addition to an exciting and extensive program, the big reunion of the entire industry also ensured a good mood among all participants.


“For BOE INTERNATIONAL 2023, we can draw an all-round positive conclusion – all participants in the discussions confirmed this to us. BOE has traditionally been an important platform for the international event industry and offers an optimal environment for new business and new contacts. This is where the industry meets to talk about budgets and projects, to inform itself and to exchange ideas. This offer in particular was used particularly extensively for this year’s edition at the exhibitor stands and as part of the accompanying trade fair program with strong speakers and actors,” says Sabine Loos, Managing Director of the Westfalenhallen Group. “There can be no better incentive for us than to start planning for the upcoming BOE right away with this gratifying balance sheet and many great impressions!” adds Sabine Loos.


Trade visitors are already looking forward to the coming year with anticipation. Around 90 percent of them want to be back at the next International Trade Fair for Experience Marketing.



The BOE INTERNATIONAL 2024 will take place from the 17th to the 18th. January 2024.



Companies and partners praise high visitor quality

The providers were also very impressed by the interest of the trade visitors, the density of contacts and the numerous concrete inquiries. This is also how Christian Supa, Managing Director, supaevent GmbH sees it: “The interest is there, the response is great – the event industry is alive!” Florian Gehrs, Corporate Communications, Party Rent Bomers, GmbH also underlines the successful re-launch of BOE: “We are very satisfied with the comeback of BOE INTERNATIONAL – especially with regard to the quality of contacts.” Sebastian Rudolph, project manager, Aventem GmbH, adds: “The fair reflects the entire spectrum of the industry. GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the trade fair: “BOE INTERNATIONAL is always a positive experience. This year, a particularly large number of trade visitors came who had specific interests and inquiries.”


Whether for the first time or already represented at the fair for many years, around 94 percent of companies have already confirmed their participation for the next edition.


Contacts are versatile at BOE. They arise here not only with potential customers, but also within the industry: Event agencies are looking for suitable partners and personnel. Freelancers are suitable for cooperation with other service providers. As a whole, this creates an industry meeting place that is significantly more valuable than a pure supplier fair.


Trade fair program convinced with variety and quality

Six stages and an action area enriched the start of the fair with a wealth of insights, suggestions and information on current industry topics. The focus was, among other things, on the trend topic of sustainability, for which BOE INTERNATIONAL is campaigning together with its strategic sustainability partner 2bdifferent. The promotion of young talent is also an important aspect at the BOE: Young talents were able to participate in two onsite events, the new BrandEx Fresh format and the 6th FORUM EVENT, inform and find a first access to the industry. The rich supporting program was supported by numerous partners and many important industry associations.

The re-start has been successful! The program managers Eva Mengeringhausen and Li Listmann, Head of Marketing & Sales, from BOE INTERNATIONAL also agree on this. Together with moderator Sebastian Messerschmidt, they spoke in a guest episode about the current topics and successes of the leading trade fair for the event industry in a guest episode: How can trade fairs be hybridized – or are they already? How do we create networking opportunities before and after the encounter? What can go is very clear: the garbage. In addition to the omnipresent topic of sustainability, the three also ask themselves how and how the success of a trade fair can be defined. BrandEx Award honored creative achievements

This year’s BrandEx Award also took place live on the eve of BOE INTERNATIONAL, which honors the best projects of the year in the areas of live marketing and brand architecture. The top-class expert jury had selected 23 submitters in 15 categories. A special role in the BrandEx Award is played by the 16. Category “Fresh.” Here, young talents could apply individually or in a team with their fresh ideas for live communication. For some submitters, the evening was particularly successful. Two or more prizes took e.g. B. onliveline – Office for Conception, Uniplan, George P. Johnson, fischer Appelt, DO IT! Society for Field Activation, insglück – Society for Brand Staging, facts and fiction and move – Agency for brand communication in reception. The winning team for the “Fresh” category also came from the ranks of move.
