For Guido von Vacano, member of the management board of Messe Stuttgart, it was high time that CMT could finally take place again after two years of pandemic-related break. The special thing about CMT is that we have reliable partners, some of whom have been with us for many years and with whom we have been able to further develop the concept of CMT during this time. How much people appreciate and missed the world’s largest public fair for tourism and leisure was shown right at the start of the CMT on the first weekend of the fair, which has received a great response.”

Golf clubs are committed to biodiversity

As part of the golf and wellness trips, golfers will find exciting travel destinations for their sport and everything related to the right golf equipment. A long-standing partner of this special fair is the Baden-Württemberg Golf Association (BWGV). President Otto Leibfritz reports that the golf community got through the pandemic well, although there was also a sports ban there for a long time. “We had a member increase of 5.1 percent during the pandemic. Otherwise, this was around one percent.” More and more people wanted to move in nature. And the golf courses have had enough of that. Three years ago, the BWGV launched the project “Lifespace Golf Course – We promote biodiversity”. “Only 40 percent of the area of a golf course is playing area, the rest are flowering meadows, hedges, ponds and trees,” explains Leibfritz. The golf clubs are committed to biodiversity and make sure that they leave dead wood piles behind, mow little at the ponds and along the fairways or hang extra nesting boxes for birds. Golf courses that meet the requirements receive the “Golf & Nature” quality and environmental certificate, which is awarded by trained professionals after checking the measures.

Organic hacking as a new wellness trend

Anyone who aspires to a wellness trip does not necessarily have to wander into the distance, as Markus Spettel, Managing Director of Kur- und Bäder GmbH Bad Dürrheim, reports. The new trend “organic hacking” is currently causing a sensation there. This means the clever improvement of human biology with individual self-optimization by taking a close look at human biology, i.e. “hacking”. “We work with the latest scientific findings, but a lot is already known. Pastor Kneipp already knew that cold water can be healthy. Today, we offer ice bathing workshops for interested people,” explains Spettel. The focus in Bad Dürrheim is on natural bio-hacking, which means that we combine special breathing and meditation techniques with natural brine and healing water, which we both offer as a spa. Breathing health and resilience are our priority.”

Premiere for diving fair Interdive

For the first time in the CMT program is the diving fair “Interdive”. If you want to stock up on the latest equipment for this sport, you will find a wide range of products from well-known diving equipment manufacturers at various retailers – from wetsuits to diving computers to fins. “But visitors can also inform themselves about diving trips, whether it should go to exotic destinations such as Greenland, Tahiti or Papua New Guinea, or to the classic diving destinations such as Egypt and the Mediterranean countries,” explains Monika Richter, Marketing Director Extra Divers Worldwide, organizer of the Interdive. Various diving ships, international diving schools and diving resorts complete the program. “Many colleagues from different destinations have come to provide qualified advice on site. Those interested in diving want to know in advance whether whale sharks or manta can be seen, for example. And of course, where the most beautiful hem reefs with corals are located, which can also be reached in shorter flight distances.” The Württemberg State Association for Diving (WLT) is also present as a professional association for diving. It was important for the organizers to “come to the exchange sports fans. The Interdive also takes place in other cities in Germany, for example in February at REISEN & CARAVANING Hamburg, and for the first time at CMT, in order to bring this sport closer to the audience in Stuttgart.”

Glide freely through the air like a bird

With the Thermik 2023, fair for paragliding and kite sports, an attractive offer is an attractive offer for lovers of weightless gliding in the air, but only on Saturday, 21. January. For Jürgen Häffner, managing director and organizer of the thermals, flying is the “great dream of man. Being free like a bird and floating weightlessly through the air is an indescribable feeling.” If you want to experience it, you can check with the local flight schools. “You don’t have to book a course right away, but can start with a trial course on a light practice slope.” The age limit is 16 years in order to be able to start a supervised entry. After all, free flying is allowed from the age of 18. In addition to flight schools, various equipment manufacturers are on site. New this year is a winch for flying in the lowlands, which was previously only available for gliders.
