Education fair addresses current challenges in early education / daycare seminars with comprehensive training program
Early childhood education, care and upbringing is a decisive foundation for a child’s successful educational path. This is another reason why early education is one of the central exhibition areas of didacta – the education fair, in addition to school and vocational training. “In daycare centers, the foundations are laid for later successful learning and thus also for good development, promotion and participation opportunities,” says Claudia Döttinger, member of the management board of Messe Stuttgart. That is why it is important to us to offer the latest concepts and materials for elementary education at didacta and to offer an important educational meeting for all parties involved.
From 07. to 11. March 2023, this year’s didacta will present the latest developments, top-class speakers, innovative products and services at the Stuttgart exhibition center. The daycare seminars of didacta offer particularly exciting early childhood topics and a comprehensive program. The continuing education and training series for educators deals with questions such as: What role does digitization play in early education on five theme days? How does prejudice-conscious education and upbringing succeed? How can creativity be promoted as a key competence for life in daycare? And last but not least, claim and reality: What about the quality of daycare in Germany? On all-day forums, trade fair visitors get to know the perspectives of different speakers, can participate in discussions, educate themselves and exchange ideas with each other.

Daycare centers in crisis?
At the latest since PISA, there has been consensus: daycare centers are educational institutions. And similar to school or vocational school, the challenges are also increasing in daycare centers and are therefore the focus of didacta 2023: including the burdens caused by the increasing shortage of skilled workers, the integration of refugees and the inclusion of children in need of support as well as the handling of the consequences of the corona pandemic. Prof. Dr. Renate Zimmer. The renowned educational scientist with a focus on “Early Childhood” is convinced: “In order to be able to deal with current, but also future challenges, children need self-competence and the conviction that they can make a difference through their own actions.” The lecture will deal with the importance of children’s psychosocial health and show ways in which the development of a positive self-concept and the development of resilience can be supported.
DigitalPakt – also for the daycare center
How much digitization do daycare centers need? This question arises in the context of the daycare seminars Julia Knopf, professor of German didactics and head of the Research Institute Education Digital at Saarland University and board member of the Didacta Verband e. V. She talks about (early childhood) education in the digital world. “Digital technology, used sensibly, enriches everyday organizational life in the daycare center, optimizes cooperation between carriers, management, team and families and expands the children’s learning and experience world,” says Knopf. “What daycare centers urgently need are concepts for the use of digital media in educational practice, good IT infrastructure, technical equipment and support – and that’s exactly what I’m talking about at didacta 2023!”
An entire day of action is also dedicated to the topic of “Open work – more than just a concept for good times.” What do the currently challenging framework conditions in daycare centers mean for the quality of open work? What can professionals do to accompany children well in their freedom of choice despite restrictions? These questions will be answered on the 10th. March as the focus of the joint event of the Federal Association of Protestant Day Care Facilities for Children e. V. (BETA), the Association of Catholic Day Care Facilities for Children (KTK) – Bundesverband e. V. and the Didacta Association e. V.
Focus on early education
A large number of other forums, workshops, lectures, seminars and panel discussions provide an opportunity for individual training in the early childhood sector.
