The most important platform in the dental world for 100 years
With a European press conference on the 25th. January 2023, the “hot” phase for the final preparations for the IDS 2023 was ushered in. The moderated event in the presence of around 50 specialist journalists from Europe showed an outlook on the upcoming IDS from the 14th to the 18th. March 2023, which is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. In his words of welcome, Mark Stephen Pace, Chairman of the Board of the Association of the German Dental Industry, outlined the impressive success story of the International Dental Show from its beginnings in 1923 in Berlin to the upcoming 40th. Edition. The IDS has been shaping the dental future for 100 years now and will once again prove its outstanding impulse power in 2023 under the motto “100 Years IDS – Shaping the dental future”, Pace emphasized.
Pace showed how IDS has developed into the most comprehensive innovation window, indispensable industry meeting place and the performance show of the dental industries in the world.
Oliver Frese, Managing Director of Koelnmesse, emphasized his joy and pride that Koelnmesse has been part of the IDS success story for thirty years. A strong IDS 2023 is expected, over 1,700 from 60 countries have already been registered. The digitization push is important and brings a high added value, but products must also be experienced because of their haptic component. Dr. Bunke noted that dentistry is a profession that has basically developed into preventive splints, but the curative part had never disappeared and thus the craft part is still very large. You must therefore go to trade fairs to look at the innovations and “take them into your own hands”. Oliver Frese explained that Koelnmesse is accelerating digitization in all areas, but has also learned in the last three years that a digital offer is an important added value, but the physical encounter at trade fairs is irreplaceable. Finally, Mark Stephen Pace once again emphasized the innovative power of the international dental industry and the importance of IDS as a leading communication platform.
