Friedrichshafen – It will be colorful and glittery again when with the My Cake from the 4th to the 5th February, the largest cake fair in southern Germany enters its fifth round. The international trade fair for cake design and creative baking promises even more program to participate in and an even higher density of cakes than in previous years. “Guests can look over the shoulders of the stars of the scene and become cake designers themselves in many hands-on offers,” reports project manager Julia Graf. In 34 workshops, muffins can be decorated, macarons baked, sugar flowers and much more can be conjured up. There is something for young and old.
57 exhibitors from eleven nations present the latest trends in cake design at the exhibition center in Friedrichshafen. In addition, visitors to My Cake can look forward to a new, larger DIY area this year. “Interested people can sometimes be shown by the cake professionals how to model figures made of fondant or how to get sugar sheet cakes,” says project manager Julia Graf. There is something for everyone at the numerous workshops: from cake in the form of a realistic T-bone steak, to buttercream flowers to modeling detailed figures.
Celebrities and baking experts reveal their tips and tricks so that the perfect cake and design really succeed. Christa Gehring, candidate from the show “Das große Backen” is also present. The baking expert generates the ideas for her creations from the environment and is inspired by trees, flowers and animals, among other things. It recommends that all hobby bakers always concentrate on the essentials and never be put under pressure when baking. At her workshop, Christa Gehring shows the participants how to create the perfect “cold hand” from the Netflix hit series “Wednesday.”
Natalie Schweng from the Nasch Store in Friedrichshafen is also there. She came to bake through her mother and turned her hobby into a profession. According to Natalie Schweng, floating cakes, sprayed flowers and drips are very trendy this year. Visitors can look forward to bread rolls, new and popular baking cups, cake rings, sprinkles and much more at their stand at My Cake. In addition, there will be the cake competition of the IGT (Interessengemeinschaft für Tortendesign) at the fair for cake design and creative baking and the best Frankfurt wreath will be selected as part of the “edible cake” competition.
