New year, new trends and new highlights. From 13th to 15th January 2023, opti, the international trade fair for optics & design, will open its doors at the Munich exhibition center. Behind it: upcoming trends, brand new innovations, strong content and surprising formats.
opti as an eye-optical trade fair made in Germany once again shows itself as a meeting place for the industry, get-together of creatives, experts and a place for young designers to be seen.
36 new exhibitors will be there this year – some of them are among the hottest newcomers to the ophthalmological scene. With exhibitors from a total of 28 nations, opti 2023 is once again proving to be the international meeting place for the industry, although this year due to persistent economic uncertainties of the markets focused on three full halls.
The highlights at a glance
The top topic of sustainability: The opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB
The topic of sustainability has long since arrived in the industry. First steps have been taken, opti 2023 is about the path into the future. For this, there will be the opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB for the first time. In hall C3, experts at booth C3.350 inform in impulse lectures on Friday and Saturday at 12 noon and at 3 p.m. as well as on trade fair Sunday at 12 noon about new ways to save energy, recycle sustainably, successfully filter grinding water and more.
Afterwards, visitors and exhibitors come together in a fishbowl discussion and interactively discuss the individual challenges and already practiced solution.
The push for social media
Optometrists and interested trade visitors who would like professional advice on their social media presence can do so during the consultation hours at the opti CAFÉ powered by ZVA. There, experts offer 20-minute quick courses on all days of the fair. The experts: Sarah Schleicher, German optician and eyewear blogger (19,000 Instagram followers) and the French optician Anne-Sophie Lapetitte (100,000 Instagram fans) from AnSoStyle. Attention: Places are limited and almost fully booked!
Tours on key topics in ophthalmic optics
Interested parties have the opportunity to register for exhibitor tours on the opti 2023 website, in cooperation with and carried out by epitop GmbH. On this occasion, various key topics of ophthalmology are addressed and exciting impulses are set. On Friday, 13.01.2023 at 14:30, the first tour on the topic of “Smart imaging in ophthalmic screening” will take place. The focus is on “Best practice measurement methods and management concepts in myopia management” is placed on the second tour, on Saturday, 01/14/2023 at 11:30 a.m. The conclusion is the tour “Enthusiastic” is the new ‘Satisfied’ in customer marketing” on Saturday, 01/14/2023 at 2:30 p.m. The tours create another unique framework for professional exchange at opti 2023. opti MYOPIA HUB
opti 2023 will be interactive: visitors will be invited to lively exchange and discussions. The inspiring format desopti MYOPIA HUB awaits you in hall C3 on booth number 334, which is one of the several focal points dedicated to the topic of myopia management. Myopia progression is a hot topic for the world of optics and the question arises whether the glasses are a new alternative to slow down myopia progression. In lectures and individual discussions with representatives of well-known exhibitors, various approaches are discussed as part of the opti MYOPIA HUB powered by HOYA. The program can be found daily on the homepage.
The opportunity for young designers
Young designers will have the chance to present their products at opti 2023 and prove why their innovations in ophthalmic optics will determine trends in the future. The best start-up is chosen by an international jury of experts who evaluate “Innovation”, “Design & Function” and “Sustainability” according to the new criteria. The start-up is awarded the opti BOX AWARD and receives a credit to the opti stand rent 2023 and 2024 worth 1,000 euros each as well as marketing PR support in four digits. On Saturday at the fair, the 14th January 2023 at 2:30 p.m., the next Box Award will be presented live on site at the opti BOX Café in Hall C2 together with partner eyebizz.

opti is the international trade fair for optics & design, which takes place annually as an industry launch in January in Munich. It offers the professional audience the complete ophthalmological spectrum from spectacle frames to lenses, contact lenses, refraction, diagnostics, low vision to shopfitting and technical equipment. The opti order platform and the place for product premieres of international market leaders and start-ups are alike. Since 2008, the fair has been organized by GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH, and it took place for the first time in 1998.
