From Sunday, January 22 to Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (FWTM) will once again bring national and international culture to the 35th edition of the Freiburg International Culture Exchange (IKF). and event industry to Messe Freiburg. As the central trade fair in the German-speaking region, the IKF is an important meeting place and exchange platform for artists, exhibitors and trade visitors and is therefore a “shop window” for the industry. With almost 60 live performances in two theaters in the area of performing arts, 35 performances on the music stage and 35 performances on the street theater stage as well as “walk acts”, a diverse program is offered over three days. The Freiburg ladder, the IKF prize, is awarded to all three categories. More than 300 exhibitors from 20 countries will be represented in Hall 2, presenting the entire diversity of the industry. In the knowledge forum, visitors can look forward to exciting lectures on current topics. After the opening gala on Sunday, the IKF will be open from Monday, January 23 to Wednesday, January 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“The IKF is still unique in its basic concept: It is a place of information, exchange and communication and enables the trade audience to give a comprehensive insight into new productions and offers in just a few days,” says FWTM Managing Director Daniel Strowitzki . “It is the ideal platform for artists to start a career and increase their own profile.”
The 35th international trade fair will open as usual with the opening gala on Sunday, January 22, 2023, 8:00 p.m., admission to the hall is from 6:30 p.m. The central foyer opens at 6:30 p.m. Artists such as the piano cabaret artist Anne Folger, in the field of visual comedy the duo Mimikry or the slam poet and cabaret artist Philipp Scharrenberg will be part of the gala. The spectators will also be Maria Mazotta from Italy or Mikail Karahan with his comedy Cyr Wheel performance and inspire viewers. Urs Jäckle and Karl-Heinz Helmschroth will direct the program, and he will also act as moderator.
In the area of performing arts (cabaret, comedy, figure theatre, artistry, cirque, variety, music cabaret, poetry slam), Fee Brembeck, Eleni Ana, Circus, Franziska Wanninger, Özgur Cebe, Okan Seese, Elias Oechsner, Max and Julian Blum as well as Free Vivaldi excerpts from their current programs. Another highlight is the appearance of Manuel Druminski, former concertmaster of the Freiburg Philharmonic.
STILLIFE StreeTTheater, Sandra Hanschitz (from Freiburg) and Felice & Cortes appear in the street theater category. Bands and musicians from the genres rock, pop, chanson, jazz and world music can be heard on the music stage. These include, for example, Svara Knutur, Alessandro D’Alessandro, CARROUSEL, Holler My Dear, Quintense or Anna Mabo.
